Video Production example - September Fury Breathing Fire
We decided to include this piece because it's an
example of how something soooo simple can be really cool as well. It was
almost by accident that we even got this Video Production
footage to begin with, but ironically, this segment has consistently
gotten the most views of our aviation video segments - mainly because of
the wow-factor.
Behind the scenes stories after the crowds
have gone home.
Video Production Story:
We happened to be at the Reno Air Races
the weekend before they officially started in 2008. We still
were there at dusk as they rolled out September Fury, a British
Sea Fury Unlimited Racer, and were told they were going to do an
engine run-up as the sun set so the team could watch the firing
of the huge radial engine. The raw power and engine noise we
captured with the camera paled in comparison the the bone
rattling and ground shaking of the actual moment live.
Video Production Location:
Reno Stead Airport, Reno, NV; Reno Air Races
Video Production Date:
September 2008
Video Production Credits:
Video Production Tech:
Shot on a single Panasonic HVX200A; 16GB
P2; DVCPRO50; edited on a MacPro with Final Cut Studio
Video Production Notes:
Was regrettably shot in SD because we
hadn't quite worked the bugs out of our native MXF HD workflow.
Fortunately, we were able to shoot another run-up the following
weekend on two HVX cameras, one on either side - one standard
frame-rate the other overcranked (slo-mo), both in full DVCPROHD. Some of
the HD footage ended up in the Reno Air Races 2009 Trailer also
available on our
Video Production Portfolio.
